Ranplan to Showcase Castor Wireless Simulations Powered by NVIDIA Omniverse Libraries at MWC 2026

Cambridge, UK, 2 March 2026 – Ranplan Wireless will showcase high-fidelity wireless network simulations generated by its Castor Propagation Engine, powered by NVIDIA Omniverse libraries, at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona.

The demonstration presents an advanced digital twin workflow in which 3D network models and radio frequency (RF) simulation outputs created in Ranplan — including heatmaps and network structures — are exported using the open USD (Universal Scene Description) format and opened within NVIDIA Omniverse for immersive 3D exploration. This enables wireless performance to be examined within visually rich environments, supporting collaboration across RF engineering, infrastructure planning, and digital twin teams.

From Physics-Based Simulation to Immersive Digital Twins

Castor is Ranplan’s GPU-native, ray-tracing propagation engine designed for highly complex indoor and urban environments. Unlike empirical models, Castor computes full complex vector electromagnetic fields — capturing amplitude, phase, and polarization — while modelling intrinsic material properties such as permittivity and conductivity. It can handle multiple indoor and outdoor transitions, supporting advanced heterogeneous network (HetNet) design across complex environments.

By supporting surface scattering, higher-order interactions, and deep ray tracing, Castor enables precise modelling for smart cities, large indoor venues, industrial facilities, and high-frequency projects/studies, including millimetre-wave research. Powered by GPU acceleration, Castor dynamically scales computational resources, allowing users to balance speed and accuracy depending on project requirements. Integrated with Ranplan’s modern 3D visualization toolsets, Castor transforms wireless planning from static coverage maps into animated interactive digital twins.

Practical Use Cases for Castor

Ranplan’s Castor engine is tailored for environments where accuracy, complexity, and reliability are critical. Key applications include:

  • Indoor Wireless Network Design – Optimizing Wi-Fi, 5G/6G femtocell and picocell placement, interference analysis, capacity planning for offices, hospitals, airports, and factories.
  • Smart Buildings and Internet of Things (IoT) Deployments – Ensuring reliable connectivity for large sensor networks and connected devices.
  • Industrial Environments (Industry 4.0) – Planning robust wireless communication for robotics, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and control systems on complex factory floors.
  • Public Safety Communications – Ensuring consistent coverage in large public venues or challenging indoor environments.
  • Virtual Reality/Augment Reality (VR/AR) Applications – Delivering precise channel models to support immersive experiences and high-speed wireless links.

“In the era of private wireless and advanced industrial use cases, wireless design is becoming more tightly linked to digital twins and 3D infrastructure planning,” said Per Lindberg, CEO of Ranplan. “With Castor, we are delivering a higher level of propagation accuracy for complex, dynamic environments, paving the way to mastering scenarios encompassing spatially moving vehicles, robots, and drones. Bringing state-of-the-art wireless simulations powered by NVIDIA Omniverse libraries enables professional users to explore, fine-tune, and optimize the performance of mission-critical wireless networks within intuitive and photo-realistic 3D models – elevating engineering insight and enhancing collaborative workflows."
