Cambridge, UK – 3 Nov 2026 – Ranplan Wireless, a leading provider of wireless network planning, simulation and optimization software, today announced the introduction of Ranplan Sidekick, an AI-powered assistant designed to transform how engineers interact with its wireless network planning software.
Introduced with the launch of Ranplan 7.4 as an optional capability, Sidekick brings conversational AI directly into the network planning environment, enabling engineers to perform complex tasks, explore design options and analyze network performance using plain language requests. Customers can continue using Ranplan's established planning and simulation workflows without enabling Sidekick.
By combining AI-assisted workflows with Ranplan's established modelling, prediction and optimization capabilities, Sidekick aims to reduce repetitive manual work, simplify complex processes and make advanced wireless network engineering tools more intuitive and efficient.
Wireless network planning involves increasingly complex environments, technologies and performance requirements. Engineers must manage detailed building models, configure network infrastructure, run sophisticated radio propagation predictions and evaluate multiple design scenarios to achieve the required performance.
Sidekick introduces a new way of working by allowing engineers to communicate their objectives through a conversational interface rather than relying exclusively on traditional software commands and workflows.
Through plain language instructions, engineers can ask Sidekick to perform a range of tasks, including:
Prepare network environments: Assist with building model preparation from floor plans and sourcing geographic information for outdoor environments.
Create and modify network designs: Add, edit and configure network components, adjust layouts and perform repetitive design tasks.
Run predictions and evaluate performance: Create and calculate radio propagation predictions, review results and assess network performance against engineering objectives.
Optimize new network designs: Optimize transmitter placements for greenfield network designs against defined coverage targets, with optional SINR targets.
Access project information: Retrieve details about network components and project configurations, as well as guidance from Ranplan's software documentation.
Prepare engineering deliverables: Assist with exporting bills of materials, generating reports and preparing presentation materials.
Sidekick operates within the existing Ranplan software environment, combining conversational interaction with direct access to network planning functions. Engineers remain in control of their designs with proposed changes presented for review and approval before being applied.
Rather than replacing engineering judgement, Sidekick is designed to help engineers work more efficiently by reducing the time spent navigating software interfaces, configuring routine tasks and managing repetitive workflows.
This approach allows users to concentrate on higher-value activities such as evaluating network performance, exploring alternative deployment strategies and making informed engineering decisions.

Ranplan Sidekick is available as an optional Beta capability for users of Ranplan Professional and Ranplan In-Building version 7.4, with valid Annual Maintenance and Support (AMS).
Customers can upgrade to Ranplan 7.4 without adopting Sidekick, allowing organizations to choose whether and when to introduce AI-assisted functionality into their engineering workflows.
